In this webinar we will study how to visualize the fringing of electric fields between parallel conductor plates. EMS for SOLIDWORKS has 3 electric solvers - electrostatic, AC electric and electric conduction. This webinar will focus on electrostatic solver. 

We will solve an example that involves 4 parallel plates that are embedded inside a dielectric medium. When a potential difference is created between the plates, an electric field is setup. The electric field is concentrated between the plates but some amount of electric field fringes out. This fringing effect is what we will attempt to quantify and visualize in this webinar. 

The extent of the fringing depends on the size of the plates as well as the distance between the plates. Also the type and size of the dielectric plays a role. We will study how the fringing changes when we vary the distance between the plates. We will also see how the various visualization tools such as section plot, iso plot and 2D plot helps us to study the fringing and its variations. Finally, we will see how EMS can be used to get the capacitance matrix.
