5G Antenna Simulation in HFWorks/ SolidWorks

Thursday, February 16, 2017

Today’s fourth-generation (4G) LTE cellular network is very crowded and it is reaching its upper limit especially in large cities such as New York and Tokyo. The world appetite for bandwidth has never reached the current level and is growing rapidly. Most industry experts predict that the 5G cellular network is bounded to arrive by the year 2020. Technically speaking, 5G falls in the millimeter-wave spectrum which is plagued by a plethora of limitations such as rapid attenuation and high absorption by rain, atmosphere, and vegetation. Nevertheless, wireless developers still believe in the future of 5G and in overcoming its limitations. As a result, there have been a surge in the R&D of 5G antennas and systems.

HFWorks uses a full-wave frequency domain finite element technique. Thus, it is capable of simulating any arbitrary shape antenna at millimeter-wave frequencies and beyond. Its tight integration in SolidWorks makes the modeling of very small geometries which are inherent to compact 5G technology, due to the short wavelength, i.e high frequency, straightforward and parametric. In this webinar, we will take you by the hand and show you step-by-step how easy to design the intricate 5G antennas in a short time using the duo HFWorks and SolidWorks.
