Visualization in EMS

February 20, 2014

EMS uses the finite element method to simulate electric machines as well as devices that are based on the electromagnetic phenomena.  It is intuitive and easy-to-use, thanks to its full integration in SolidWorks, the #1 CAD package.  Nevertheless, it remains a field solver which yields primarily the electric and magnetic fields.   Such results are oftentimes of little interest to the machine designer.  The latter is more often than not look for mechanical parameters such as force and torque and/or electric parameters such inductance, capacitance, impedance, back emf, voltage, and current.

EMS derives all of the above mechanical and electric design parameters from the resulted electric and magnetic fields.  It then presents them to you by means of its easy and, yet powerful, set of visualization tools.  Such tools include fringe, vector, contour, section, and clipping plots and graphs as well tabulated data.  It then it allows you to generate an html or Words reports recapitulating all of the pre- and post-processing data and results.

In this webinar, we will show you step-by-step how to visualize your results in EMS. We will explain to you how to look inside your device and locate hot spots and design anomalies.
