High Voltage Analysis in EMS

Thursday, November 21, 2013

The design of high voltage equipments require the computation of electric field and electric stresses. High stresses lead to corona and the dielectric breakdown of the air and the bushings. Hence, a high power designer always attempts to minimize the electric stresses. This task is challenging and especially when realistic and practical equipments are considered. Electromagnetic software packages can significantly facilitate the designer's task without the need to build physical prototypes.

Unfortunately, most of the commercial electromagnetic software packages that may be utilized for this end are difficult to use. In addition, they oftentimes require from the designer to simplify the geometry, which can result in the loss of critical details and thus affecting the performance of the high voltage equipment. EMS makes the exception. It is fully integrated inside SolidWorks and Inventor. Consequently, the high voltage designer needs not to simplify the geometry or worry about CAD. The design can indeed be taken from drafting straight to analysis.

In this webinar, we will show you, step by step, how to perform high voltage analysis in EMS. You will witness firsthand the seamless integration of EMS in SolidWorks and Inventor. We will show you how to compute electric stresses and avoid corona and dielectric breakdown
